Job summary

Danny Sullivan Group is recruiting for an experienced HSG47 Skilled Operative to join a construction project in South Shields for approximately 6 weeks. You will carry out skilled site duties, work safely around underground services and follow HSG47 procedures to protect utilities and the team.

CIS rates apply with weekly pay and a competitive rate for the right candidate. Candidates must hold HSG47 certification and CSCS Card, provide an up-to-date CV and be available for the full 6-week window

Qualifications

• HSG47 certification is required on site.
• CSCS card is required on site.
• Experience as a Skilled Operative on construction or civil sites.
• Knowledge of underground service avoidance and safe digging procedures.
• Up-to-date CV is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out skilled site duties in line with project requirements and site procedures.
• Work safely around underground and above-ground services.
• Follow HSG47 procedures at all times.
• Assist with protection of underground utilities.
• Use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Support excavation and groundworks activities as required.
• Follow site drawings and supervisor instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Work closely with supervisors and the wider site team.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures.

Location: South Shields

Pay: £22 per hour CIS

Start Date: 7th September 2026

Duration: 6 weeks

Danny Sullivan Group is currently recruiting for an experienced HSG47 Skilled Operative to join a construction project in South Shields for approximately 6 weeks.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and experienced Skilled Operative looking for a short-term role with competitive CIS rates and the chance to work as part of an established site team.

Your Role as an HSG47 Skilled Operative

• Carry out skilled site duties in line with project requirements and site procedures
• Work safely around existing underground and above-ground services
• Follow HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services) procedures at all times
• Assist with the safe identification and protection of underground utilities
• Use appropriate tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Support excavation and groundworks activities where required
• Follow site drawings, plans and instructions from supervisors
• Work safely around plant, machinery and other construction activities
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Report hazards, damaged services, unsafe conditions and near misses immediately
• Work closely with supervisors, groundworkers and the wider site team
• Follow all site health and safety procedures and instructions at all times

What We're Looking For as an HSG47 Skilled Operative

• Valid HSG47 certification
• Valid CSCS Card
• Previous experience working as a Skilled Operative on a construction or civil engineering site
• Good understanding of underground service avoidance and safe digging procedures
• Experience working around construction plant, machinery and site services
• Strong awareness of site health and safety requirements
• Up-to-date CV required
