Job summary

DS Smith is seeking an HSER Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract at Launceston, with occasional travel to Newport. The role leads the Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk function, embedding a proactive HSER culture to support operational excellence and regulatory compliance across the site.

You will drive the annual HSER plan, act as Management Representative, and collaborate with regulators and insurers while contributing to DS Smith's wider HSER network and sustainability leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience driving a Health & Safety culture across a large business.
• Experience with Construction Design & Management (CDM) regulations.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001/45001/50001 standards.
• Hands-on training delivery and staff development.
• Experience with management systems and audits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety and environmental culture across the site
• Build trusted relationships to coach safe behaviours at all levels
• Support leadership in delivering the annual HSER improvement plan
• Deliver HSER training and develop organisational competence
• Monitor, analyse and report HSER performance metrics
• Act as Management Representative for HSER systems and compliance
• Manage internal and external audit programmes and drive improvements
• Lead risk assessments including PUWER and COSHH compliance
• Serve as primary HSER contact for regulators and insurers
