Job summary

Carmichael UK are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a major UK highways project in east London. You will provide expert HSEQ leadership across site operations, ensuring compliance and promoting a positive safety culture on complex utilities and enabling works packages.

You will work closely with clients, statutory bodies and subcontractors to maintain the highest HSEQ standards throughout the project lifecycle, reporting on performance and driving continual improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager in civil engineering/utilities/infrastructure.
• Experience on utilities projects or utility diversion packages.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a proactive Health & Safety culture across the project.
• Provide expert HSEQ advice and support to delivery teams.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, legislation and client requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Investigate incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Develop risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and teams.
• Monitor and report on HSEQ performance and drive improvements.
