Job summary

Simpson Recruitment Services is seeking a hands-on HSEQ Advisor to support electromechanical installation projects across the UK. Based in Caerphilly with hybrid work and UK-wide site travel, you will own safety processes on site and with the Group SHEQ team.

You’ll embed the ISO management system, run risk assessments and incident investigations, deliver inductions and training, and contribute to CDM 2015 duties and supplier management.

Qualifications

• Must-have NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Level 3 safety qualification.
• Experience providing safety advisory support to field-based or operational teams.
• Hands-on practice with risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and incident investigations.
• Experience working within an ISO 45001-certified management system.
• Solid knowledge of UK health & safety law (CDM 2015, etc.).
• Ability to communicate with and influence people at all levels; pragmatic approach.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Embed our Group integrated management system across the company and maintain ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 certifications, including internal audits and actions.
• Provide practical safety guidance to managers, supervisors and field teams; work on risk assessments, method statements, SSoW and COSHH.
• Conduct site inspections and audits across the UK.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations and share root cause learnings.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and briefings; ensure training and cards are up to date.
• Support CDM 2015 duties, contractor/supplier management, and environmental/quality processes.
• Collaborate with client safety teams and produce monthly HSEQ performance reports.

HSEQ Advisor - Electromechnical installation

Our client part of a UK Group employing circa 300 people, installs and maintains electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment for clients across the UK. We're looking for a hands‑on HSEQ Advisor to be the go‑to HSEQ person for the business, someone who'd rather be out on site building a great safety culture than stuck behind a desk.

You'll work day to day alongside the Site Manager and our operational teams, while also being a full member of the Group SHEQ team, with a SHEQ Manager who'll back you, support you and invest in your development. It's the best of both worlds: real ownership of your own patch, with a strong team behind you.

What you’ll be getting stuck into

• Embedding our Group integrated management system across the company and keeping our ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 certifications in great shape, including internal audits, hosting certification audits and closing out actions
• Giving practical, down‑to‑earth advice to managers, supervisors and field teams, and working with them on risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and COSHH, covering confined spaces, lone working, work at height, driving and electrical/mechanical work
• Getting out and about with a programme of site inspections and audits across the UK
• Leading incident and near‑miss investigations, getting to the root cause and sharing what we learn
• Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and briefings, and making sure our people hold the right training and cards
• Supporting CDM 2015 duties, contractor and supplier management, and our environmental and quality processes
• Working with client safety teams and producing a monthly HSEQ performance report

What you’ll bring

• NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent Level 3 qualification
• Health and safety advisory experience supporting a field‑based or operational workforce
• Hands‑on experience with risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and incident investigations
• Experience working within an ISO 45001‑certified management system
• Solid knowledge of UK H&S law, including CDM 2015, Confined Spaces, COSHH, PUWER, work at height and RIDDOR
• The confidence to communicate with, and influence, people at every level, plus a pragmatic, proportionate approach and the backbone to challenge when it matters
• A full UK driving licence

Bonus points (but don't let these hold you back)

• Working towards a NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6 equivalent, Tech IOSH or above, ISO internal auditor training, water/utilities sector experience, CDM contractor or principal contractor experience, and environmental legislation knowledge. National Water Hygiene, confined space and CSCS/SHEA Water cards are a plus too, and if you don't have them, we'll train you.
