Job description

The McDermott group is seeking an HSEQ Advisor based in Perth, Scotland, to uphold high standards in health, safety, environmental protection, and quality management.

Overview of the Role

  • HSEQ Officer
  • Holidays: 30 days plus 1 additional day per year of service, up to 5 days; holiday buy-back scheme for an additional 5 days.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Manage and liaise with HSEQ auditors to maintain certifications.
  • Create, monitor, and update procedures within the Quality Management System.
  • Coach and advise employees and management on HSEQ matters to ensure legal compliance.
  • Plan and conduct audits, documenting successes and areas for improvement.
  • Provide training on HSEQ topics to staff.
  • Ensure company processes meet their objectives.
  • Report on HSEQ performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Promote customer focus within the organization.
  • Maintain the integrity of the HSEQ management system.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk reduction strategies.
  • Outline and enforce safe operational procedures.
  • Perform regular site inspections for compliance.
  • Ensure safe and legal working practices.
  • Develop health and safety policies and strategies.
  • Lead internal training sessions on QHSE topics.
  • Keep records of inspections, incidents, and produce reports.
  • Stay updated on legislation and industry developments.
  • Attend relevant seminars and read professional journals.
  • Manage safe disposal of hazardous substances (COSHH).
  • Advise on fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational diseases.
  • Manage emergency procedures, signage, PPE, and COSHH controls.
  • Hold NEBOSH General or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate passion and knowledge in HSEQ subjects.
  • Work effectively both in teams and independently under deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, and DSE regulations.
  • Auditor training/experience preferred.
  • Implement processes and drive change proactively.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and be willing to travel.
  • Must have full rights to work in the UK (IDLR or Settled Status).
