Job summary

Astute People are recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor to join a global EPC contractor for a large-scale solar project in the Cardiff area. The role offers a salary of 40,000–45,000 plus company benefits and starts in December 2026.

The job involves assisting the HSE Site Supervisor with CDM compliance, site safety management, audits, and training delivery. Candidates with NEBOSH and SMSTS are preferred.

Qualifications

• First-aid certificate (3-day) is preferred.
• NEBOSH certificate desirable.
• SMSTS certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the HSE Site Supervisor in the site setup and establishment in accordance with CDM and welfare regulations.
• Assist the HSE Site Supervisor in ensuring the Construction Phase Plan, Integrated Management System and contractual safety requirements are effectively implemented.
• Monitor all work to ensure safe systems of work are adopted and advise on corrective actions.
• Deputise for the HSE Supervisor in their absence.
• Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and dangerous occurrences; collect accident book entries for archiving.
• Provide HSE support and advice to the EPC team.
• Complete HSE audits and inspections on sites; close out nonconformities with site teams.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Deliver toolbox talks and inductions; identify training needs and competency requirements.
• Participate in daily contractor meetings and collect monthly HSE statistics.

Astute's Strategic Division are currently recruiting for Health and Safety Advisors to join a vastly growing Global EPC Contractor for their Large-scale Solar farm in the Cardiff area.
The HSE Advisor position comes with a salary ranging from 40,000 to 45,000 plus company benefits
Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:

• Assist the HSE Site Supervisor in the site setup and establishment in accordance with CDM and welfare regulations.
• Assist the HSE Site Supervisor in ensuring the Construction Phase Plan, Integrated Management System and contractual safety requirements are effective and implemented across the project. Where gaps are identified advice must be delivered to ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Assist the HSE Site Supervisor in monitoring all work (direct and sub-contractor) to ensure that safe systems of work are adopted.
• Deputise for the HSE Supervisor in times of absence from the site.
• Ensure that all accidents, incidents, and dangerous occurrences are thoroughly investigated and reported detailing causes, conclusions, and recommendations to avoid recurrence and collecting all accident book entries for archiving with the support of the Health and Safety Manager.
• Provision of HSE support and advice to the EPC team
• Completion of HSE audits and inspections on sites
• Analysis of audit findings and working closely with site teams to effectively close out nonconformities
• Assist in drafting and reviewing of Risk Assessments and Method Statements
• Encourage an open and positive safety culture.
• Support the workforce to reduce H&S risks.
• Identify training needs and competency requirements.
• Deliver Toolbox Talks and Induction Training as required.
• Participate in daily contractor meetings.
• Collect the monthly HSE statistics from projects
• Hold first-aid 3 day course certificate
• NEBOSH
• Ideally hold an SMSTS cert
