Astute is recruiting 3 Health and Safety Supervisors for major utility-scale solar developments across the East Midlands, with sites in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. These roles offer a competitive salary and benefits, with a planned start date in November 2026.

You will implement project HSE requirements, review RAMS and risk assessments, and deliver site inductions while coordinating incident investigations to maintain safe operations.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management and environmental compliance.
• Experience in construction HSE roles, preferably on renewable energy projects.
• Ability to communicate safety requirements and challenge unsafe practices effectively.

Responsabilités

• Maintain site HSE documentation, including safety files and emergency plans.
• Deliver site inductions and brief subcontractors on hazards and safe working practices.

• Oversee welfare, fire safety, first aid, signage, security and traffic management on site.
• Coordinate environmental compliance and waste management measures.
• Liaise with subcontractors, utility providers and local authorities on HSE matters.
• Coordinate emergency responses, report incidents and lead investigations.

Astute is partnering with a leading global EPC contractor delivering major utility scale solar developments across the East Midlands to recruit 3 Health and Safety Supervisors for projects in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

These Health and Safety Supervisor positions offer a competitive salary and company benefits, with a planned start date of November 2026.

Responsibilities and duties of the Health and Safety Supervisor role

Reporting to the site management team, you will:

• Implement project HSE requirements and ensure compliance with construction safety plans and relevant legislation.
• Review construction drawings, RAMS and risk assessments, identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate control measures are in place.
• Maintain site HSE documentation, including safety files, environmental assessments and emergency plans.
• Deliver site inductions and brief subcontractors on project specific hazards, safe working practices and procedures.
• Monitor site activities, conduct inspections and address unsafe practices to maintain a safe working environment.
• Oversee site welfare, fire safety, first aid, signage, security and traffic management arrangements.
• Manage environmental compliance, including waste management and pollution prevention measures.
• Liaise with subcontractors, utility providers, local authorities and other stakeholders on HSE matters.
• Coordinate emergency responses, report incidents and lead investigations, producing reports with findings and recommendations.
• Ensure all HSE records are maintained and project documentation is completed and handed over at project closeout.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or an equivalent recognised construction health and safety qualification.
• A valid First Aid at Work qualification, including defibrillator training.
• A sound understanding of construction health and safety legislation, risk management and environmental compliance.
• Knowledge of RAMS, construction-phase safety planning, emergency procedures and site documentation requirements.

The Health and Safety Supervisor role would suit someone who is:

• Experienced in construction HSE, ideally within renewable energy projects.
• Confident communicating safety requirements and challenging unsafe practices.
• Proactive in identifying risks and implementing practical solutions.

• Calm under pressure and capable of managing incidents and emergencies.
