Job summary

Saab UK, part of Saab Group, invites an experienced HSE professional to lead health, safety and environmental governance across its Fareham-based manufacturing unit.

You will develop and maintain HSE systems, drive continuous improvement, conduct audits, train staff, and ensure compliance with ISO standards and customer requirements.

Strong leadership and collaboration with operations are essential to embedding a proactive HSE culture and delivering safe, compliant production.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Internal auditing.
• Experience with external accreditation bodies.
• Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001.
• HSE qualification (NEBOSH).
• Environmental qualification (IEMA).
• Strong leadership, motivation and cultural transformation skills.
• Knowledge of the offshore energy market (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve HSE management systems, policies and standards across Saab UK Fareham site.
• Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, regulations, industry standards and customer requirements.
• Lead delivery of the HSE strategy and monitor KPIs.
• Prepare HSE reports for leadership reviews.
• Coordinate training, awareness and onboarding programmes for staff, contractors and visitors.
• Lead internal audits, inspections and compliance audits.
• Provide expert HSE advice to managers and project teams.
• Manage incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
• Oversee environmental performance and sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure PUWER and machinery safety compliance in processes and production.
• Support bids, projects, emergency preparedness and stakeholder engagement.
