Job summary

Balaena Tyne, part of One Balaena, is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead safety across a busy shipyard and heavy engineering site. You will champion practical safety improvements, develop the HSE team and partner with leaders, supervisors and subcontractors to raise the standard of health, safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading HSE in heavy engineering or marine environments.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop a site HSE team.
• Experience with incident investigations, audits and environmental reporting.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the site HSE team and foster a practical safety culture.
• Coach managers and supervisors, influence subcontractors and drive safe work practices across the yard.
• Lead risk management, incident investigations, audits and inspections to improve performance.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to embed safety into daily operations in a live shipyard environment.
• Communicate clearly, with credibility, to sustain high safety standards across One Balaena.
