Job summary

Oldham College is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Manager to deliver the College's H&S&E priorities and drive improvements. You will lead policy development, audits, and risk management to ensure legal compliance and best practice.

You will advise senior leaders and governors, promote a positive safety culture, and coordinate relationships with HSE, insurers, and trade union reps, while supervising the H&S team and environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate is a required qualification.
• Demonstrated success implementing and delivering Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and operational plans.
• Strong understanding of current H.S.E. legislation and FE sector priorities, with experience raising compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead H&S&E strategy delivery and coordinate priorities with the Director of Finance & Resources.
• Monitor compliance and performance across the College and drive audits and improvements.
• Manage risk assessment systems and incident reporting, ensuring fit-for-purpose processes.
• Provide expert advice and reporting to senior leaders and Governors on H&S&E matters.
• Promote a positive safety culture through training and engagement programmes.
• Manage external relationships with HSE, Fire & Rescue, insurers, and legal advisors; coordinate H&S reps.
• Lead the H&S team and coordinate environmental compliance including sustainability goals.
• Ensure duties align with College policies, safeguarding, and equality commitments.
