Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Health & Safety Business Partner to join our Derby site. You will provide expert HSE advice across the operation, supporting a large-scale semi-automated site and collaborating with operational leaders to drive safety performance.

You will lead HSE initiatives, deliver training, manage risk, and promote a proactive safety culture. Essential NEBOSH National General Certificate and robust stakeholder engagement are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in operational Health & Safety roles.
• Experience in warehouse and transport environments.
• Ability to deliver against targets and drive standardised programmes.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Exposure to Food Safety and/or Quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert HSE advice and guidance to operational teams across the site.
• Build relationships with site customers and act as a safety advisor.
• Drive standardisation and adherence to HSMS and HSE policies.
• Support the delivery of annual Safety, Health and Environmental objectives.
• Coordinate with central HSE in delivering wider objectives.
• Lead and coach site teams on key HSE initiatives and improvements.
• Promote proactive safety culture through engagement and training.
• Monitor compliance, identify risks and drive continuous improvement.

Working alongside operational leaders, customers, and colleagues across multiple contracts, you'll play a critical role in shaping and driving a positive safety culture, influencing key stakeholders, and ensuring our business continues to operate safely, efficiently, and compliantly.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

As the Health & Safety Business Partner, you will provide expert advice, guidance and support across the site to ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and DHL policies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing professional HSE advice, guidance and support to operational teams across the site.
• Building strong relationships with site customers and acting as a trusted safety advisor.
• Driving standardisation and supporting continued adherence to the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) and other HSE policies.
• Supporting the delivery of annual Safety, Health and Environmental objectives through effective performance management.
• Assisting the central HSE function in delivering wider functional and business objectives.
• Coordinating and supporting site management teams with key HSE initiatives and improvement programmes.
• Promoting a proactive safety culture through engagement, coaching, training and visible leadership.
• Monitoring compliance, identifying risks and implementing practical solutions to drive continuous improvement.

this Role Would Suit People Who

• Strong experience working in an operational Health & Safety role.
• Previous Health & Safety responsibility within warehouse and transport environments.
• Experience delivering against targets and driving standardised programmes and initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and engage operational leaders, customers and colleagues.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (essential).
• Confidence and experience presenting to groups and delivering training sessions.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
• Experience working in automated or semi-automated operational environments.
• Knowledge or experience of Food Safety and/or Quality standards.
• Experience supporting large-scale, multi-contract logistics operations.
