Shirley Parsons Ltd in Bridgwater seeks a proactive Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to support two local manufacturing sites. You will drive ISO 45001/14001, coach managers and employees, and lead incidents investigations and risk assessments.

The role involves audits, performance monitoring, and improving waste, energy and carbon initiatives, with occasional travel and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, influencing and organisational skills.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and internal auditing.
• Experience in incident investigation, risk management and HS&E improvement.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, waste management or energy/carbon reduction.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office; SharePoint and Power BI experience would be advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and continually improve ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, inspections and corrective actions.
• Monitor HS&E performance, KPIs and trends, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Provide practical HS&E advice, coaching and support to employees and managers at all levels.
• Support risk assessments, incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, briefings and HS&E awareness initiatives.
• Coordinate worker consultation and engagement activities to promote a positive safety culture.
• Support emergency preparedness and response arrangements.
• Lead or support initiatives relating to waste, energy, carbon and resource efficiency.
• Provide HS&E input into contractor activities, new equipment, plant modifications and engineering projects.
• Liaise with regulators, auditors, contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers.

Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset

Salary: £45-50k

Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a proactive and hands‑on Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to support manufacturing operations across two local sites and help drive a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.

This is a highly visible, practical role working closely with managers, employees, contractors and external stakeholders. You will provide expert HS&E guidance, support legal and regulatory compliance, and help ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace.

Key responsibilities:

About you

You will have practical experience in HS&E within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or similar operational environment, together with a good understanding of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.

You should have:

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and internal auditing.
• Experience in incident investigation, risk management and HS&E improvement.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, waste management or energy/carbon reduction.
• Strong communication, influencing and organisational skills.
• Confidence engaging with people at all levels and challenging constructively when required.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office; SharePoint and Power BI experience would be advantageous.
