Job summary

Oxford City Council is seeking an experienced HRA Gas Safety Manager to lead gas safety compliance across ~8,000 homes and ensure statutory obligations are met with strong controls and oversight.

The postholder will act as the Council’s lead gas safety specialist, coordinating with delivery partners, maintaining high standards, and supporting asset management objectives, including decarbonisation efforts.

Job description

Oxford City Council is seeking an experienced and technically competent HRA Gas Safety Manager to lead on gas safety compliance across its Housing Revenue Account (HRA) portfolio of approximately 8,000 homes.

Reporting to the HRA Compliance Manager, this roleis responsible forensuring that the Council meets all statutory obligations in relation to gas safety, and that systems,processesand controls are in place to deliver a safe,compliantand well-managed service.

The postholder will act as the Council’s lead specialist for gas safety, providing oversight,assuranceand technicalexpertiseacross all aspects of gas compliance. This includes working closely with delivery partners to ensure safe and effective service delivery, whilemaintainingstrong client-side control and accountability.

While the majority of gas safety delivery is undertaken through the Council’s primary delivery partner, the postholder will retain full client-side accountability across all gas-related activity, including oversight of externally procured works, commercial systems and leasehold properties, ensuring consistent standards, compliance and quality across the entire housing portfolio.

The role will also support wider asset management functions, including capital investment and retrofit activity, ensuring that gas systems are effectively managed,maintainedand aligned with future asset strategies and decarbonisationobjectives.
