About the role
BYD UK is seeking a proactive and experienced HR Specialist – Employee Relations & Recruitment to support a positive employee experience across the full employee lifecycle. This dual-role position will primarily focus on employee relations, ensuring employee wellbeing, legal compliance, and conflict resolution, while also supporting recruitment and general HR administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of UK employment law, demonstrate emotional intelligence, and be an excellent communicator.

Job Description / Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
- Act as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance to managers and employees.
- Support or lead investigations into employee concerns, grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace conflicts.
- Advise on and support performance management and conduct-related cases, including documentation and action plans.
- Help review, draft, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment law and best practices.
- Partner with department heads and local teams to promote employee engagement, wellbeing, and a positive workplace culture.
- Support implementation of employee care programs (e.g., recognition initiatives, anniversaries, team-building events).
- Prepare documentation and reports related to ER cases, trends, and resolutions.
- Ensure practices align with organisational values and legal requirements.
Recruitment & HR Administration
- Manage the full recruitment cycle: posting vacancies, screening CVs, arranging interviews, liaising with candidates and managers.
- Maintain recruitment inbox and respond to queries and applications promptly.
- Attend interviews, take notes, and support hiring managers through the selection process.
- Prepare offer letters and support contract generation in collaboration with HR service providers.
- Track and report on recruitment activities, costs, and sources.
- Produce HR reports and data analysis as needed.
- Assist in drafting HR correspondence and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Support general HR admin duties (filing, photocopying, note-taking, etc.)
- Help organise company events and internal communications to support HR initiatives.
Ideal candidate profile:
- Minimum 3–5 years of HR experience, including significant involvement in employee relations.
- Solid understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
- Experience in full-cycle recruitment and working across multiple hiring levels.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS experience is an advantage.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multicultural, or multinational environment is a plus.
