Job summary

Lancashire County Council is recruiting an experienced HR Manager to support schools across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale in the Schools HR Team. You will lead complex casework, advise on policy and change, and build trusted relationships with school leaders and governors.

You will deliver training, support employment matters, and contribute to service improvements while providing high-quality HR advice and practical solutions to ensure schools remain great places for staff and pupils.

Qualifications

• CIPD qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent recent and relevant professional HR experience
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Sound knowledge of employment law and people management practices
• Ability to work in a varied, complex and challenging environment
• Flexibility to attend meetings outside normal office hours, including school governing board meetings

Responsibilities

• Undertake and manage serious and complex casework, providing high-quality HR advice within an allocated geographic area
• Review, develop and implement HR policies and procedures
• Work with trade unions to promote positive employee relations
• Develop and deliver training for Headteachers, Governors and school leaders
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the Schools HR Team service and identify new opportunities
