Zachary Daniels is partnering with a growing retail business to recruit an experienced HR Manager on a 12 month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on role for an HR professional who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships and making a real difference to its people.

You'll hit the ground running, providing commercially focused HR support, owning the day-to-day people agenda and helping to evolve processes as the business grows.

Qualifications

• Generalist HR background in a fast-paced commercial environment.
• Excellent employee relations experience with complex cases.
• Experience partnering with managers and senior stakeholders.
• Solid knowledge of UK employment legislation.
• Proactive, pragmatic approach balancing operational HR with initiatives.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior HR colleagues.
• CIPD qualification beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Act as trusted HR partner to managers and senior leaders.
• Own day-to-day HR function, delivering high-level support.
• Manage employee relations matters (grievances, disciplinaries, performance, absence).
• Coach and develop managers in people management.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, lifecycle, and offboarding.
• Review and improve HR policies and ways of working.
• Support wider people initiatives and organisational change.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Guide and support junior HR colleagues.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to identify people priorities.

Zachary Daniels is delighted to be partnering with a growing and ambitious retail business to recruit an experienced HR Manager on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships and making a real difference to its people.

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, provide confident and commercially focused HR support and take ownership of the day-to-day people agenda, while also helping to improve processes and support the business as it continues to evolve.

It's a broad and varied role, so you'll need to be equally comfortable supporting senior leaders, managing complex employee relations matters and getting involved in the operational side of HR.

The role

• Act as a trusted HR partner to managers and senior leaders, providing practical and commercially focused advice.
• Take ownership of the day-to-day HR function, ensuring employees and managers receive a high level of support.
• Manage a broad range of employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinaries, performance, capability and absence.
• Coach and develop managers, building their confidence in managing people matters effectively.
• Support the delivery of key HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee lifecycle management and offboarding.
• Review and improve HR policies, processes and ways of working.
• Support wider people initiatives, including employee engagement, development and organisational change.
• Ensure the business remains compliant with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Provide guidance and support to junior HR colleagues, helping to develop capability within the team.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to identify people priorities and support wider business objectives.

About you

• A strong generalist HR background, ideally gained within a fast-paced, commercial environment.
• Excellent employee relations experience and the confidence to manage complex cases independently.
• Experience partnering with and influencing managers and senior stakeholders.
• A good understanding of UK employment legislation.
• A proactive, pragmatic approach with the ability to balance operational HR with wider people initiatives.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Experience supporting or managing junior HR team members would be advantageous.
• CIPD qualification would be beneficial.
