Job description

Ready to step up and lead an HR team where your technical knowledge and people skills genuinely matter?

We're recruiting for an experienced HR Documentation Manager to lead a team of HR professionals responsible for delivering high-quality, legally compliant HR documentation and advice to clients.

This is a hands-on management role – you'll be leading from the front, coaching your team, driving performance and quality, supporting complex client requirements and keeping the department ahead of changes in employment legislation.

What's in it for you?
  • Lead and develop an established team of HR Documentation professionals
  • Make a real impact on quality, productivity and client service
  • Use your employment law knowledge in a practical, client-facing environment
  • Shape processes, training and best practice across the team
  • Work closely with senior management and wider business functions
  • Join a professional organisation with a strong focus on client service and employee development
What will you be doing?

As HR Documentation Manager, you'll take ownership of the team's day-to-day performance and delivery.

You'll:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Documentation Consultants.
  • Set clear expectations around KPIs, SLAs, quality and productivity.
  • Monitor performance and take action where standards aren't being met.
  • Provide technical support on complex HR and employment documentation.
  • Quality-check contracts, policies, procedures, letters, templates and guidance.
  • Ensure documentation reflects current UK employment law and best practice.
  • Keep the team up to date with key legislative changes, including the Employment Rights Act 2025.
  • Handle complex client queries, complaints and documentation requirements.
  • Identify training needs and deliver coaching, induction and refresher training.
  • Conduct regular 1-to-1s, probation reviews and performance conversations.
  • Analyse MI and reporting to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with other departments to continually improve client service and operational performance.
Who are we looking for?

We're looking for an experienced HR Manager, HR Team Leader, HR Advisor Manager, HR Documentation Manager or Senior HR professional who is ready to take ownership of a team.

You’ll need:
  • Strong UK employment law knowledge.
  • Previous experience managing, supervising or leading an HR-focused team.
  • Experience working with contracts, policies, procedures and employment documentation.
  • A strong understanding of KPIs, SLAs, quality and performance management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of written communication.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence managing difficult conversations and addressing underperformance.
  • The ability to coach and develop people while maintaining accountability.
The personality we’re looking for

Personable but firm.

You'll be approachable, supportive and someone your team trusts – but you won't shy away from difficult conversations or allow standards to slip.

You’ll know how to coach rather than dictate, but equally how to set clear expectations and hold people accountable.

If you're an experienced HR professional who enjoys leading people, solving problems, working with clients and maintaining high standards, this could be your next move.
