Job summary

Tate is seeking an HR Consultant focused on job evaluations in the Bristol area. The role emphasises leading evaluation activity, advising on design and grading, and developing frameworks to ensure fair, consistent outcomes.

You will use workforce data to inform pay and organisational decisions, ensuring compliance with employment law and best HR practice. The position combines remote work with weekly office attendance.

Qualifications

• Significant local authority experience is essential.
• Experience of undertaking GLPC evaluations is essential.
• Policy development and/or casework experience is important.
• Strong understanding of employment law and good HR practice is required.
• Ability to analyse information and provide evidence-based insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support job evaluation activity, ensuring roles are assessed fairly and consistently.
• Advise managers on role design, grading outcomes and job evaluation processes.
• Support the maintenance and development of job evaluation frameworks and documentation.
• Use role and workforce data to inform pay, grading and organisational decisions.
• Ensure employment practices remain fair, accessible and aligned with legislation and good practice.
• Utilise insights and workforce information to support decision-making and EQIAs.
• Review and develop HR policies to ensure clarity, fairness and compliance.
• Support organisational projects requiring HR or policy expertise, especially those shaping workforce culture.
• Act as a key HR link with managers and colleagues to promote fair people practices.
• Contribute to learning resources and training that enhance people-management capability.
