Job summary

Pertemps is seeking an experienced HR Consultant for a Reading-based assignment with Thames Water. The role focuses on delivering a full HR generalist service across the employee lifecycle, advising managers, and connecting business needs with the People team. The position is hybrid, starts ASAP, and lasts twelve weeks.

The ideal candidate will have broad HR experience, strong stakeholder relationships, change management expertise, and the ability to analyse HR metrics to drive improvements.

Job description

An HR Consultant position is available in Reading with Pertemps, contracted to Thames Water for a temporary twelve-week period. This full-time role pays £29.00 per hour and involves partnering with operational managers to connect business needs with the People team. You will deliver a generalist HR service, focusing on the employee lifecycle and supporting leadership. The role suits an experienced professional capable of advising managers and enhancing employee development.

Responsibilities
  • Support people managers with the employee lifecycle and implementation and delivery of our people strategy.
  • Partnering effectively to deliver a high-quality HR service to our people.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to our people managers and leaders with recommendations to assist and influence decision-making.
  • Analyse and interpret HR people data to measure and manage performance and communicate the results and findings to our leaders across the business.
  • Making recommendations & advice following on from data analysis.
  • Work with people managers and our Employee Relations team offering advice and support on cases and potential risks.
  • Working closely with the HR teams across the business to support the delivery of business needs, ensuring strategies and planned benefits are understood and influencing HR thinking and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Experience across a broad spectrum of HR disciplines with an understanding of broad legal implications.
  • Ability to lead and make strong and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of HR change projects.
  • Ability to analyse HR and business metrics and develop solutions.
  • Skilled at making influential decisions in a business context, shaping and influencing others.
  • Be comfortable challenging current practices and making recommendations for continuous improvement using successful change management.
  • A solid understanding of employee engagement and how to coach leaders to understand and create value from them.
  • Experienced in the implementation of people initiatives and able to develop metrics to measure impact.
  • Associate Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) or equivalent with Membership or equivalent is desirable.
