HR Business Assistant

Our client is looking for two full-time HR Business Assistants for temporary contracts lasting approximately six to eight weeks, based in an education setting in Wellington Telford.

As a Business Assistant, you will serve as the first point of contact for visitors, managing the main entrance and telephone communications. Your responsibilities include directing visitors and calls to the appropriate individuals and supporting the organisation by maintaining and updating key spreadsheets.

In this role, you will provide practical and realistic HR advice on matters such as performance management, attendance, timekeeping, disciplinary actions, and grievance hearings. This involves taking minutes, leading hearings, and liaising with senior management to keep them informed about investigations and disciplinary processes.

You will collaborate with the Managing Director to review, update, and implement HR processes across the company, recruit staff from advert to start date (including DBS, ID checks, RTW checks), and support home managers and the head teacher on HR matters, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Additional duties include ordering items for departments, ensuring orders are authorized, providing financial records to the accounts department, processing role changes and internal promotions, issuing confirmation letters, and managing probationary periods with timely reminders and follow-up paperwork for line managers.

Ideal Candidate
  • Must have practical experience in an HR Advisor role, preferably within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Safer recruitment and KCSIE experience.
  • Experience in the care and/or education industry or similar sector, particularly in organisations regulated by OFSTED, LADO, and CQC, is preferred.
  • Motivated and passionate about HR and supporting individuals.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm.

Rate of pay: £14.00 per hour.

The successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check.
