We are seeking a proactive and motivated HR Advisor to join our established UK People team based in Peterborough. In this role, you will provide a blend of day-to-day HR administration and direct advisory support, acting as a reliable first point of contact for line managers and employees across our nationwide division.
Working closely alongside senior HR Business Partners, you will balance operational HR coordination with hands‑on exposure to Employee Relations (ER) casework. This role is an excellent opportunity for an HR Coordinator or Assistant looking to step up into an advisory role, or an early‑career Advisor seeking broader generalist scope within a respected professional services firm.
Serve as the initial point of contact for employee and manager queries regarding company policies, procedures, and basic UK employment law.
Support line managers through low-to-medium level ER matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance improvement plans (PIPs).
Attend and minute ER meetings, draft formal outcome letters, and ensure all casework is documented in line with ACAS guidelines.
Proactively track sickness absence, conduct return-to-work discussions, and coordinate occupational health referrals.
Oversee the end-to-end employee lifecycle administration, including drafting offer letters, contracts of employment, contract variations, and leaver documentation.
Coordinate the onboarding and induction experience for new starters across regional offices.
Maintain and update HR information systems (HRIS), ensuring employee records remain accurate, audit-ready, and GDPR-compliant.
Assist with monthly payroll preparation by tracking changes, allowances, overtime, and unpaid leave for handoff to the payroll team.
Generate regular HR management information (MI) reports on headcount, turnover, and absence trends to share with HR Business Partners.
Experience: Proven experience in an HR Assistant, Coordinator, or junior Advisor role within a corporate or professional services environment.
ER Knowledge: Working knowledge of UK employment legislation and practical experience supporting formal HR processes.
Education / Credentials: CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualified (or actively studying toward certification) is advantageous.
Skills: Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Approach: A pragmatic, customer-focused approach with the confidence to advise managers and the discretion to handle sensitive data.
