Job summary

The Best Connection is seeking an experienced People & HR Advisor to provide hands-on HR support across the employee lifecycle, advising managers and employees while ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation.

This part-time role is 25 hours per week (hours TBC) with a pro rata salary of £23,125, reporting to the Operations Director. You will lead advisory, recruitment, records management and policy reviews in a manufacturing SME.

Qualifications

• Strong generalist HR experience, ideally in SME/manufacturing/engineering.
• Knowledge of UK employment legislation.
• Experience advising managers on employee relations.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Organised with strong attention to detail and discretion.
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Office and HR systems.
• CIPD Level 5 desirable; Level 7 advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice on employee relations including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.
• Manage recruitment, interviews, onboarding and probation processes.
• Maintain HR records, contracts and documentation.
• Support absence management, wellbeing and employee engagement.
• Coordinate training and competency records.
• Review HR policies to ensure legislative compliance.
• Support performance management and appraisals.
• Produce HR reports on headcount, absence, turnover, recruitment and training.
• Provide practical HR advice to managers across the business.

• Provide practical HR advice and support to managers across the business.
