Job summary

Farnell, an Avnet company, is recruiting an HR Advisor in Leeds (Hybrid). You will support managers and employees UK-wide, handling employee relations cases and contributing to HR projects. The role combines advisory work with case management and development opportunities within a global organisation.

You’ll work from the Leeds head office 3 days per week, with occasional travel to other locations. A CIPD-qualified candidate or equivalent HR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practices.
• Experience handling employee relations cases from start to resolution.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgement and discretion.
• Proactive, customer-focused approach and willingness to develop HR processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR guidance to managers and HRBP on employee relations matters.
• Support HR projects, policy and process improvements across HR.
• Coach managers through ER activities to achieve compliant outcomes.
• Manage employee relations cases: investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, performance, absence.
• Advise employees on HR policies and procedures; maintain case records.
• Collaborate with HR colleagues on initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Travel occasionally within the UK as required.

Are you passionate about employee relations and providing practical HR support that makes a difference? We’re looking for a HR Advisor to join our collaborative HR Service Centre team at Farnell & Avnet.

Based from our Head Office in Leeds, this hybrid role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of HR activities, supporting managers and employees across the UK, Ireland, and Nordics. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality HR advice, managing employee relations cases, and contributing to a variety of people-focused projects and initiatives.

What will you be doing?

As an HR Advisor, you will:

• Provide professional advice and guidance to managers and HR Business Partners on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation
• Support organisational, people, policy, and process improvement initiatives across the HR function
• Coach and guide managers through employee relations activities, helping them achieve positive and compliant outcomes
• Manage employee relations cases including investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, performance concerns, and absence issues
• Advise employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records and documentation
• Support HR projects and business initiatives, collaborating with colleagues across the wider HR team
• Assist with the development and continuous improvement of HR processes and ways of working
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business
• Travel occasionally within the UK as required

What we’re looking for?

• Good knowledge of UK employment law, particularly within employee relations
• Experience of managing employee relations cases from initial consultation through to resolution
• Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgement and discretion
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• A proactive and customer-focused approach
• Experience using HR or case management systems would be advantageous
• CIPD qualification (or equivalent HR experience) would be advantageous
