Job description

HR Advisor

Department: G&A

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Manchester

Description

CMap is a fast-growing software company helping project-based businesses win, deliver, and manage work… profitably.

CMap builds software that helps professional services firms, from consultancies to architecture and engineering practices, win more work, deliver it profitably and make smarter decisions. We're a growing team with offices in Manchester, Cheshire and Orlando. We're collaborative and informal, and we genuinely value internal progression.

We’re proud of our product and even prouder of our people. Collaboration, openness, and input from across the business drive both our culture and our success. We keep things friendly and informal, but we’re serious about delivering value for our clients — and enjoying the journey together.

Love HR because no two days are the same? So do we.

One morning you're coaching a manager through a tricky probation conversation. That afternoon you're rebuilding an onboarding journey or finding the story in your people data for the leadership team. If you're a generalist who has done the lot and enjoys being properly involved in how a business runs, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to our HR Manager, you'll be the go-to HR expert across the business.

We are looking for someone progressive and forward-thinking, who can engage our senior team and show the real impact HR can make. You'll be part of our wider People team and work closely with our management team, who will benefit from your:

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading employee relations cases end to end: performance, probation, absence, grievance and disciplinary
  • Coaching managers so they can confidently handle difficult conversations and own the people side of their roles
  • Keeping our HR policies clear, current and in line with legislation
  • Shaping how we work. From change management and organisation design to absence management, talent analytics and employee engagement, you’ll guide our people practices.
  • Looking after our HR system and people data, and turning that data into insight for our Management Team
  • Helping shape management training, competency frameworks and appraisals
  • Getting involved in culture, engagement and internal comms
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Generalist HR experience across the full employee lifecycle, ideally in a small or mid-sized business where you’ve covered the whole HR remit
  • A track record of leading ER processes yourself, not just supporting them
  • Solid working knowledge of UK employment law, applied with common sense.
  • Commercial awareness: you understand HR is there to help a business run well
  • Empathy, emotional intelligence and a collaborative, roll-your-sleeves-up approach
  • CIPD Level 5 is a bonus, but not essential.
Benefits
  • Private medical & dental insurance: Supporting your health and wellbeing with access to private care.
  • Life assurance: Providing extra financial security for you and your loved ones.
  • Help@Hand: 24/7 support for your health and wellbeing.
  • Enhanced parental leave: Offering time and support when it matters most.
  • Reward Gateway: Access to discounts on a wide range of everyday purchases.
  • Team outings and events: Regular chances to connect and unwind.
  • EV Salary Sacrifice: Pay for your new EV vehicle directly from your salary
  • Manchester city-centre office: A modern WeWork space with great facilities and free barista coffee.

Research has shown that people don’t always apply for roles if they don’t have all the required skills. If you believe you are the right fit and can be successful in this role, we are keen to meet you and encourage you to apply.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status or disability status.
