Job summary

Geely Auto UK is seeking a Senior HR Advisor to provide expert generalist HR support across the full employee lifecycle in Coventry. You will advise on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, and redundancy matters, delivering legally compliant solutions while minimising risk.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years HR generalist or advisor experience.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven experience managing a range of employee relations cases end-to-end.
  • Exposure to HR systems, data management, and strong Excel/data analysis capability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborative team player with the confidence to lead and support others when necessary.
  • Payroll experience and automotive industry exposure would be advantageous.

  • Monitor sickness absence and trigger actions with managers.
  • Monitor probation reviews for new hires.
  • Collaborate with HR Shared Service team and HRBP for consistent service.
  • Maintain accurate employee records with data confidentiality.
  • Promote employee engagement and inclusive working environment.

Job description

The Senior HR Advisor provides expert generalist HR support across the full employee lifecycle, leading and advising on a wide range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, and redundancy cases. The role delivers commercially balanced, legally compliant solutions that support both business objectives and employee experience, while minimising organisational risk. Working closely with managers and stakeholders, they identify trends, drive continuous improvement, champion company values, and promote a fair, consistent, and inclusive approach to people management. Main responsibilities:

  • Provide expert, pragmatic HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across a wide range of people matters.
  • Support and coach line managers to build capability and confidence in handling people issues effectively.
  • Lead and manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management. Working closely with the HRBP to ensure consistency across the business, and escalating complex or high-risk cases where appropriate.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures, TUPE transfers, and consultations.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures ensuring compliance with current employment legislation
  • Review people data and analytics to identify and highlight trends and make appropriate recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor sickness absence levels and trigger points; prompting managers to ensure appropriate actions are being taken in a timely and effective manner.
  • Monitor probations ensuring managers complete the reviews with their new hires.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Shared Service team and HR Business Partners to ensure a consistent and efficient HR service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Promote employee engagement and support initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience.
  • Act as a role model for company values, promoting a positive, inclusive, and professional working environment.
  • Support the wider HR team with key priorities and projects. CIPD Level 5 or equivalent level of experience.

5+ years HR generalist or advisor experience. Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice. Proven experience managing a range of employee relations cases end-to-end, including complex cases and organisational change. Exposure to HR systems, data management, and strong Excel/data analysis capability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. Resilient, professional, and able to remain calm and objective when dealing with sensitive or challenging situations. A collaborative team player with the confidence to lead, guide, and support others when necessary. Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Strong ethical standards, sound judgement, and a commitment to fair and inclusive people management practices. Payroll experience and experience within the automotive industry would be advantageous. A genuine interest in the automotive industry and a passion for delivering exceptional service and support to the business and its employees.
