Job summary

Techtronic Industries UK (TTI) seeks an experienced Human Resources Advisor with a strong employee relations focus to join our HR team, reporting to the HR Business Partner. You will act as the ER SME, guiding managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence matters while helping shape HR policies and procedures.

You will collaborate across the business to drive positive employee relations, support organisational change, and ensure compliance with UK employment law and GDPR in case

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • 4–5 years in an HR Advisory or Employee Relations role, ideally in fast-paced retail/FMCG environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR policies.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; able to produce reports and analyse data.
  • Experience with HR systems; Workday is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Act as ER SME, providing pragmatic advice to managers on the full range of people matters.
  • Lead end-to-end resolution of ER matters including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and change.
  • Coach managers to strengthen capability and consistency in people management.
  • Design and deliver manager training, guidance and toolkits on best practices.
  • Review and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation for compliance and efficiency.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and case law to identify risks and policy needs.
  • Prepare investigation reports, outcome letters, and tribunal-related documents when needed.
  • Manage HR inquiries and provide timely advice and escalation.
  • Analyse ER trends to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead the leaver process and conduct exit interviews with actionable insights.
  • Support organisational change activities including restructures and TUPE processes.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor with a strong focus on employee relations to join our HR team, reporting to the Human Resources Business Partner.

Working within a busy and collaborative HR team, you will act as the employee relations subject matter expert, managing complex and sensitive casework, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and organisational change matters. You will also contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures, support management capability, and help drive positive employee relations and business outcomes across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the subject matter expert on employee relations and UK employment law, providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders on the full range of people matters.
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end resolution of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, absence management, flexible working, conduct, workplace conflict, organisational change and other complex and sensitive matters.
  • Coach and develop managers to strengthen their capability, confidence and consistency in managing people matters.
  • Design and deliver manager training, guidance and toolkits to promote best practices and effective application of people management measures.
  • Review, develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and documentation, driving continuous improvement to ensure compliance, efficiency and a positive employee experience.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation, case law and best practice to proactively identify risks, opportunities and required policy or procedural changes.
  • Prepare and review formal documentation, including investigation reports, outcome letters, consultation materials, settlement agreements and tribunal related correspondence where required.
  • Manage DSARs, legal enquiries and employment-related matters, working independently or with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Support statutory people reporting, including Gender Pay Gap (GPG) reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission.
  • Liaise with Occupational Health providers, referencing agencies and other external partners to support employee lifecycle, absence management and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records, ensuring effective case management, timely resolution and GDPR compliance.
  • Manage HR inbox enquiries, providing timely advice, guidance and escalation where appropriate.
  • Analyse employee relations trends and data, identifying risks and opportunities to improve the employee experience and management effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage the leaver process, conducting exit interviews, analysing feedback, and escalating key themes alongside actionable recommendations for improvements.
  • Support organisational change activities, including restructures, redundancies, TUPE transfers and consultation processes.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues and stakeholders to deliver HR projects, employee engagement, wellbeing and wider people initiatives.
  • Support the effective use and continuous improvement of HR systems and processes.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, acting as a trusted advisor on employee relations and people matters.
  • Partner with HR colleagues and business stakeholders to support wellbeing and employee engagement measures, learning initiatives, and H&S programmes across the business.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the HR function and wider business objectives.
About you:
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience (at least 4-5 years) in an HR Advisory or Employee Relations Specialist role, ideally within a retail, FMCG, or similarly fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law, employee relations best practice, and HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to produce accurate reports, analyse people data, and generate meaningful insights to support business decision-making.
  • Experience using HR systems and databases, with Workday or similar HRIS experience desirable.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
