Job summary

Bluecrest Wellness is seeking a proactive HR Advisor to join our HR team in a hybrid role based near Worthing/Chichester. You will provide expert advice on employee relations, absence management, performance, and policy guidance, partnering with managers to deliver practical people solutions and a great employee experience.

The role requires solid knowledge of UK Employment Law, experience in HR advisory, and the ability to coach managers through change.

Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of UK Employment Law and employee relations best practice.
  • Experience in an HR Advisor or HR Officer role.
  • Experience of managing employee relations casework, including investigations, grievances, hearings, and changes to terms and conditions.
  • Experience of drafting, reviewing, and updating HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience of supporting organisational change and delivering HR projects.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification desirable.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Provide advice and support on employee relations cases, ensuring fair, consistent, and lawful outcomes through pragmatic, commercially minded judgement
  • Respond to HR queries, providing clear, practical, and timely advice
  • Support the HR Manager in negotiating terms and conditions of employment with employees, and support consultations on changes to contractual terms
  • Advise and support line managers to manage long‑term sickness absence and ill health capability cases confidently and in line with policy, working with employees and Occupational Health to support return to work and reasonable adjustments
  • Provide people management and development support to line managers, including coaching on employee relations and performance management
  • Support the HR Manager in planning and delivering key HR projects
  • Support restructures and organisational change, including consultation, selection processes, documentation, and communication with affected employees
  • Support managers and employees through change
  • Support the HR and office administration functions to deliver a high level of service for employees and prospective candidates, including maintaining accurate employee records and documentation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices
  • Provide advice and assistance on policies, procedures, employment legislation, and contractual terms
  • Use the HRIS for HR administration, onboarding, and monthly reporting, and use people data to produce other reports and insights that support decision‑making
  • Coordinate, advise, and provide guidance to line managers on employee relations casework, across the whole employee lifecycle, from joining through to exit, escalating the most complex cases to the HR Manager
  • Analyse employee relations and absence data to identify trends, and report insights and recommendations to the HR Manager
  • Support the HR Manager to draft, review, and update HR policies and procedures in line with current legislation and good practice, recommending and implementing improvements where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate HR records and evidence to support CQC inspections, internal audits, and quality assurance

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Up to 3 days per week in the Worthing Head Office

What you can bring to the team

  • Good working knowledge of UK Employment Law and employee relations best practice
  • Experience in an HR Advisor or HR Officer role
  • Experience of managing employee relations casework, including but not limited to investigations, grievances, hearings, appeal hearings, changes to terms and conditions, flexible working, performance management, absence management (including long‑term absence and ill health capability), restructure or redundancy consultation, and exposure to ACAS early conciliation
  • Experience of drafting, reviewing, and updating HR policies and procedures
  • Experience of supporting organisational change and delivering HR projects
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification desirable (or working towards)
  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements of a CQC-regulated setting, particularly those relating to recruitment, employment checks, training, and record keeping is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport, come across confidently, challenge appropriately, and influence commercially and legally compliant outcomes
  • Ability to influence, coach, and build credible relationships with managers at all levels
  • Pragmatic and commercially minded, balancing legal risk with business needs
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy is crucial
  • Self‑motivated and able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities
