Job summary

Portakabin is seeking a committed HR Advisor to join our HR team at the Head Office in York. You will provide timely advice on employee relations, guidance to managers, and ensure consistent application of company policies across the business.

You will also manage ER cases, support training on key topics, and ensure activities stay compliant with employment law, contributing to a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

Qualifications

• CIPD qualified.
• Experience of complex ER cases.
• Ability to handle sensitive issues professionally.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and effective advice on employee relations matters, ensuring company policies are applied consistently.
• Coach and advise managers on HR policies and procedures, building knowledge and capability to handle people issues confidently.
• Support employees and managers through ER procedures, handling cases proactively to achieve timely resolution.
• Manage formal ER cases, ensuring they are recorded, tracked and resolved within required timescales.
• Conduct exit interviews and escalate feedback to relevant stakeholders.
• Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the People Operations Manager with governance in mind.
• Support design and delivery of training on key ER topics to increase line manager capability.

Are you looking to join a successful and growing organisation who are committed to creating a great safe place to work where all employees have the opportunity to contribute, grow and develop? Portakabin are looking for a HR Advisor to join our HR team based at our Head office in York.

As an experienced HR Advisor you will provide support, guidance and advice to employees and managers on all employee relations matters, ensuring consistent application of company policies.

Role Details:

• Annual salary up to £35,000 dependent on skills and experience, plus potential annual-on-target bonus of up to 5% subject to business performance
• Role based: York, YO32 9PT
• Contract type: Permanent
• Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and opportunity to buy an additional 5 days each year.

In this role you will be required to:

• Confidence to manage cases independently and work as part of a team
• Proactive and thinks ahead to prevent future issues
• Sound judgement and confidence in challenging stakeholders with the ability to offering constructive alternatives.
• Strong understanding of employment law and HR policies.
• Excellent communication and mediation skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and complex issues with professionalism.
• Experience in HR advisor, employee relations advisor or case manager roles.
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
