Job summary

Senior Salmon Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to provide generalist HR support across the business, guiding leaders and teams in people, performance and policy matters.

You will champion diversity, inclusion and a respectful workplace, lead engagement initiatives, manage workforce planning, and ensure compliance with legal requirements. The role also covers stakeholder coaching and change management to help the company grow.

Qualifications

• HR generalist experience in a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies and processes.
• Change management experience.
• Ability to link HR to business strategy.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
• Independence and team orientation; good collaborative skills.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or Chartered member (or working towards).

Responsibilities

• Provide HR generalist advice and support across the business on a wide range of people and operational matters.
• Advise, coach and guide leaders on organisation design, talent review and succession planning.
• Drive the people strategy, performance management and leadership development.
• Support HR processes and policies to enable business growth and compliance.
• Align HR metrics with business goals and drive delivery improvements.
• Counsel on legislative, regulatory and policy issues to ensure consistency across functions.
• Lead employee engagement activities and programmes (Gallup Q12, PTOP, mentoring, union meetings).
• Manage HR administration efficiently and effectively.

Job description

Purpose

As HR Advisor you will provide HR generalist advice and support across the business on a wide range of people, strategic and operational matters where required. You will provide advice, support, guidance and coaching in compliance with legal and statutory business requirements, promoting best practice.

Key Accountabilities

• Work closely with business leaders to support them in the successful execution of our business strategies, in a way that further cultivates our organisational culture with a focus on diversity, inclusion and a respectful workplace.
• Create the right environment as a champion for HR initiatives, employee advocacy and will support and guide, organisation design, employee development, talent review and succession planning, as applicable.
• Drive the people strategy and people processes (performance management, leadership and talent development, and succession planning) to ensure that employees' level of performance and capabilities meet current and future needs of the business.
• Work with colleagues across the HR team to develop and implement HR processes and policies, that provide a framework for continued business growth and success.
• Ensure HR metrics are aligned with the business metrics and drive improvement in delivery to support key business initiatives.
• Provide guidance and counselling regarding legislative, regulatory and compliance issues including company policies, practices, and procedures to achieve business goals and objectives and consistency across business functions.
• Proactively identify business and HR objectives/expectations; develop, manage, or participate in project teams as appropriate to achieve desired results in a timely manner.
• Lead and facilitate all employee engagement related initiatives for the company, including but not limited to Gallup Q12, PTOP, apprentice programs, reward and recognition, mentoring and union meetings.
• Maintain awareness of legislation related to all aspects of human resources and update management as needed.
• Provide counsel on a broad spectrum of issues and opportunities, including investigation and resolution of employee relations issues.
• Ensures Human Resources administrative functions are executed efficiently.

Key Competencies and Experience

• HR experience in a complex organization (ideally within the Manufacturing sector), with diverse cultures and operating environments.
• Significant knowledge of HR policies and processes (e.g., workforce planning and talent management)
• Strong Change Management experience
• Previous Project Management experience would be an advantage
• Clear understanding of the link between HR and business strategy
• Ability to see the linkages between problems and challenges and recognising how solving one problem with one employee group may present challenges with another group.
• Comfortable working independently.
• Strong Business acumen
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
• Degree qualified or relevant HR experience
• Great team player
• Ideally CIPD level 5 qualifies or a Chartered member or working towards this.
