Job description

We're looking for 2 kind, compassionate and resilient Housing Support Workers to work across our Learning Disability Services in London, Hertfordshire and Kent.

£32,000.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week. Benefits include 25 days Annual Leave, pension schemes, staff discounts, healthcare and career progression.

The role of a Housing Support Worker is to provide housing related support across learning disability services to assist customers to maintain their tenancies and to ensure that services are compliant with Housing, H&S, Fire Safety and Care Regulations.

Main duties will include:

  1. Ensuring that all Complex LD services are compliant with living standards and other H&S checks.
  2. Ensuring that fire inductions are adequate and fire safety checks are completed in line with P&P for all sites.
  3. Ensuring the services within your patch maintain high quality standards for H&S, fire safety and living standards audits/checks.
  4. Submitting all HB claims in a timely manner and effectively addressing any tenancy issues while working alongside the Look Ahead Housing Management Team.
  5. Ensuring that all support is delivered in compliance with Look Ahead's policy and procedures.

This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2025.

All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK by the start of employment as Look Ahead are not able to offer sponsorship.

What you'll do:

Operational Accountabilities:

  1. Familiarise yourself with customers needs and profiles.
  2. Model Look Ahead values, policies & procedures.
  3. Organise and provide appropriate support for tenants preparing to move-on to greater independence, including applying for any grants to support the move and resettlement into their new home.
  4. Be proactive in Safeguarding customers in line with P&P.

Housing Management:

  1. Monitor non-payment of rent, liaise with support team/manager and propose action that can be taken to improve the situation in line with the agreed policy and procedures on arrears.
  2. Assist to sort out complicated HB claims.
  3. Ensure that good practice and equality of opportunity is followed.

Property Maintenance:

  1. Report, order and inspect day to day repairs and estate maintenance, monitoring the performance of Look Ahead contractors.
  2. Ensure that fire and other equipment is regularly serviced, tested and complies with health and safety requirements.

This is not an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required from time to time and is subject to change in accordance with the needs of Look Ahead.

About you:

  1. Have housing management and support experience.
  2. Have the ability to deliver excellent housing and support services.
  3. Be fundamentally calm and resilient, will not let emotion adversely affect them or obscure their judgement.
  4. Be practical and methodical.
  5. Have excellent organisation skills and be able to work effectively under pressure.

What you'll bring:

Essential:

  1. Knowledge of Safeguarding, MHA, DOLs, MCA and regulatory frameworks.
  2. Experience of delivering housing management performance targets.
  3. Experience of effectively managing and developing staff to ensure delivery of services performance targets within contract.

Desirable:

  1. Other relevant professional memberships and/or specialist qualifications.
  2. Holds relevant Health and Social Care management qualification - eg QCF Level 5.
