Job Description:

You’ll provide support and advice to young people who have experienced homelessness and other forms of social exclusion. You’ll work with the team to manage the day-to-day running of the young person’s 24/7 supported accommodation scheme and be the first point of contact for customers and visitors.

Job requirements

  • Support customers to move into the service, completing detailed and thorough sign-ups to make sure young people know the rights and responsibilities of themselves and Concrete.
  • Cover all reception tasks including the phone, post and reception enquiries.
  • Support customers to manage their rent and service charge payments, including benefit claims where necessary.
  • Maintain the safety and security of young people and the building by supervising the entrance and exit of the building, and undertaking regular health and safety checks.
  • Arrange appointments for customers, for example with their GP or DWP and accompany them where appropriate. Provide advice to them on housing, health, welfare benefit claims and other issues as necessary.
  • Work with the local community and respond to neighbourhood concerns or queries when needed.
  • Support the service’s income through the minimisation of void loss and arrears by reporting, monitoring and following up on maintenance jobs until completion. You’ll also support with preparing void rooms for re-let and make sure the service is kept clean and tidy.
  • Maintain a high standard of records, keeping all financial and admin systems up to date.

What we’re looking for

  • Educated to GCSE Level or with a good level of maths and English.
  • Some experience dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.
  • Experience dealing with complex and difficult behaviours in relation to young people facing multiple disadvantages or the willingness to develop these skills.
  • Great communication and administrative skills.
  • Someone with a genuine understanding and compassion for people without a home, who won’t judge but instead will empower customers and give them a voice.
  • Someone who is flexible and adaptable, able to work to a rota that includes early mornings, afternoons and evenings.
  • Someone with a full UK driving license who is able to use their own vehicle for work purposes.

Help us give those without a plan, voice or home to build concrete futures by tackling the issues that keep people from finding their own home.
