Join Our Intensive Prevention Service Team!

Our Intensive Prevention Service is part of Futures Matters, which supports children and families in Staffordshire. Futures Matters encompasses:

1. Intensive Prevention Service
2. Youth Offending Service
3. Saplings and Prevention
4. Family Group Conference Service
5. Breathing Space
6. Child Exploitation Team

What We Do:

We believe children are best placed living within their family network. As a team, we:

• Provide intense support to children on the edge of care to help them stay at home.
• Support Social Workers with re-assessments of family members to facilitate family time, aiming to support children and young people to return home after being in our care.
• Support children to return home where there is an agreed plan of reunification.
• Use a solution-focused, relational approach drawing upon strength-based methods tailored to each family's needs.

Who We Work With:

We partner with social work teams, family support teams, and other professionals, including third sector organizations. Our team is based in Stafford but works across Staffordshire and beyond.

The team also includes a Young Persons Substance Misuse Worker.

Main Responsibilities

• Support young people (8-18 years) and their parents by developing tailored support packages, utilizing team resources to facilitate family stability or reunification.
• Maintain positive relationships, providing high support and challenge to effect changes in family dynamics.
• Work restoratively with families, offering intensive and robust support where there is a risk of breakdown, considering issues such as Adverse Childhood Experiences, relationship difficulties, or exploitation risks.
• Accurately record all work on electronic files within specified timeframes.
• Participate in team meetings, training, duty systems, and service development.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children/young people and families in their homes.
• Experience delivering interventions or direct work addressing presenting issues.
• Level 3 NVQ in Childcare or equivalent qualification.
• Access to a car with mileage and allowance paid.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings, with additional increments for such hours.
