Job summary

East Staffordshire Borough Council is seeking a Housing Strategy Apprentice to gain practical experience supporting housing strategy work across the borough. You will learn to gather and analyse data, monitor affordable housing delivery and help applicants understand ownership schemes.

You’ll undertake a Chartered Institute of Housing course at a level determined by your education, with support to attend lectures and apply learning in practice.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, organised and ready to learn with strong communication skills.
• Minimum five GCSEs including English and Mathematics at grade 4/C or above.
• Plus two A Levels, a T Level or a BTEC or housing experience.
• Must meet apprenticeship provider’s entry requirements and be committed to completing the programme, including off-the-job training.
• Willing to attend meetings, training and site visits across the borough.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyse housing data to identify local needs and inform strategies, policies and action plans.
• Help monitor affordable housing delivery and maintain records of homes across the borough.
• Support administration of affordable home ownership schemes, including First Homes and Discounted Sale Housing, and help applicants understand the process.
• Work with colleagues, developers, housing providers and other partners to support housing projects and consultations.
• Develop your confidence in preparing reports, presenting information, responding to enquiries and managing priorities.
