Job summary

Recruitment Opportunities in Luton is seeking a Private Sector Housing Officer - Licensing to inspect properties and HMOs, assess using HHSRS and Decent Homes, and take action to ensure safe, well-managed homes.

You will investigate service requests, process HMO licences and manage enforcement cases, working with residents, landlords and partner agencies, while supporting colleagues and improving services.

Qualifications

• We’re looking for a confident and motivated housing professional with strong knowledge of housing standards, property inspections and enforcement.
• You’ll be able to manage complex cases, interpret legislation and make well-informed decisions, with strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential properties and HMOs, assess conditions using HHSRS and the Decent Homes Standard and take action to ensure homes are safe and well managed.
• Investigate service requests, process HMO licence applications and manage enforcement cases including Civil Penalty Notices, Rent Repayment Orders, prosecutions and tribunal proceedings.
• Work closely with residents, landlords and partner agencies, support less experienced colleagues and contribute to initiatives that improve housing standards.
