Job summary

Medway Council is recruiting for Private Sector Housing Technical & Adaptations Officers to support the Selective Licensing Programme, improving housing standards and safety for residents. You will investigate complaints, inspect private sector housing under HHSRS, inspect HMOs for licensing, and prepare notices to bring properties up to standards.

The role offers progression within the Career Progression Framework and requires Level A essential criteria.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria at Level A for appointment.
• Right to work in the UK is required.
• Standard DBS check will be required.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints of poor housing conditions and undertake inspections under HHSRS.
• Inspect HMOs in relation to licensing and assess housing conditions.
• Provide technical advice for housing adaptations and manage the DFG process.
• Advise owners, tenants and landlords on standards and available grants or loans.
