Job summary

Medway Council is seeking a Private Sector Housing Technical & Adaptations Officer to help deliver housing standards and safety within the private rented sector. The role is hybrid, combining work at Gun Wharf with home-based days, and offers a 37-hour week on a 5-year fixed term contract with progression within the CPF framework.

Salary starts at £32,378 per year, with a clear career development path from Level A to B and C.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints of poor housing conditions and undertake inspections under HHSRS
• Inspect HMOs related to licensing, management regulations and housing conditions
• Prepare letters, notices and schedules of work to bring properties up to standard
• Provide advice to owners, tenants and landlords on property condition and guidance on available grants or loans
• Serve and monitor compliance with legal notices and prepare offence reports
• Undertake visits to clients' homes to facilitate adaptations and assess feasibility and timelines for grant assistance
• Provide technical advice for Housing Adaptations and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) process
