Job summary

Tamworth Borough Council invites applications for a Private Sector Housing Enforcement and Tenancy Liaison Officer on a hybrid, temporary basis. You will lead enforcement actions, inspect properties under HHSRS, and coordinate with landlords, tenants and partners to improve standards.

Salary £35,570-£40,444 per annum. The role reports to the private sector housing team leader and requires a degree or equivalent experience, plus knowledge of housing legislation and multi-agency collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in private sector housing or related regulatory environment.
• Experience investigating enforcement cases and preparing for proceedings.
• Knowledge of housing legislation (Housing Act 2004/1988, Renters' Rights Act 2025).
• Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.
• Degree level education or equivalent experience; HHSRS qualification.
• Proficient in ICT and case management systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints related to disrepair and housing breaches.
• Conduct inspections using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
• Prepare schedules of work and serve statutory notices.
• Monitor compliance and enforcement actions.
• Investigate unlawful eviction, harassment, rent increases and related matters.
• Represent the Council at court and tribunal hearings when required.
