Job summary

Worcester City Council is recruiting for Homelessness Prevention Officers to work within the Housing & Homelessness Service. You will engage with individuals and families facing housing crises, assess needs, and develop tailored prevention plans to help them remain in suitable accommodation.

You will manage your own caseload, collaborating with landlords, providers and statutory services to resolve issues before crisis point. Strong communication and a person-centred approach are essential.

• Ability to build trusting relationships quickly with customers in housing crisis.
• Ability to complete thorough housing and support needs assessments.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload independently with accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Take initial assessments and develop tailored prevention plans.
• Work with landlords, providers and statutory services to prevent homelessness.
• Apply housing legislation to support customers and safeguard tenancies.
• Investigate tenancy issues and coordinate interventions with partners.
• Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues in person and in writing.
