Job summary

Middlesbrough Council seeks a dedicated Housing Solutions Officer for its Housing Solutions team in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. The role focuses on making statutory housing decisions and supporting applicants from interim accommodation to long-term housing, with a proactive and creative approach.

The successful candidate will work with diverse services, visit accommodation placements, assist with viewings and funding applications, and uphold the council values.

Responsibilities

• Make statutory decisions in line with relevant legislation for move to long-term accommodation.
• Explore all suitable housing options and identify barriers and actions required.
• Support move-on for applicants with move-on housing needs.
• Visit temporary accommodation placements and assist with property viewings and funding applications.
• Record information accurately and timely.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, applicants and stakeholders.
• Work Monday to Friday in Housing Solutions with flexible blended options.

We are looking for someone who can:

• Make statutory decisions in line with the relevant legislation whilst working with individuals, couples, and families who are placed in interim and temporary accommodation to facilitate their move into long term accommodation in a timely manner.
• Take a proactive approach to ensure all suitable housing options are explored. Identifying potential barriers and what actions are required to achieve the desired outcomes.
• Be creative and innovative in your approach to supporting applicants who require move on support.
• Work as part of the wider Housing Solutions team, completing visits to temporary accommodation placements, supporting applicants to property viewings also support with funding applications.
• Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, applicants and stakeholders.
• Be part of a service that provides housing advice and support, Monday to Friday.

Whilst in post there will be development opportunities alongside flexible working with the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate).
