Job summary

RBKC Careers is seeking a Housing Solutions Officer to support residents facing housing crises, turning complex legislation into practical paths to settled homes. You’ll assess needs, create Personal Housing Plans, and prevent homelessness through proactive casework, including landlord negotiations and mediation.

The role emphasizes empathy, strong communication, and collaboration with social care and health teams.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with empathy for people in crisis.

• Strong casework, analytical ability and attention to detail within statutory timelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, empathetic guidance to residents over the phone and in person during crises.
• Assess housing needs, affordability and suitability; develop Personal Housing Plans with applicants.
• Conduct proactive casework to prevent homelessness, including landlord negotiations and tenancy mediation.
• Complete statutory decision letters under Housing Act requirements and maintain accurate records.
