Job summary

Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking a Housing Solutions Officer to support residents facing crisis, turning complex legislation into clear, realistic paths toward settled homes. You will assess needs, conduct proactive casework and work with landlords to prevent homelessness, while ensuring accurate records and statutory decisions.

You will collaborate with adult and children’s services, health teams and the DWP, manage a caseload, and contribute to a fair, accessible service.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering frontline housing advice and casework.
• Ability to interpret complex housing legislation and provide clear guidance.
• Strong communication with diverse residents and partner agencies.

Responsibilities

• Interact with residents by phone and in person, providing clear, empathetic guidance.
• Assess housing needs, affordability and suitability; develop Personal Housing Plans.
• Conduct proactive casework to prevent homelessness, including negotiations with landlords.
• Apply Housing Act 1996 Parts VI & VII, issue statutory letters, and maintain records per data standards.
• Collaborate with social care, health teams, DWP and other agencies; cover duty rotas.
