Job summary

Connect2Halton is recruiting a Housing Solutions Officer to support residents who are homeless or at risk, providing professional housing advice and implementing personalised housing plans. You will assess applications, determine needs and work with partners to secure suitable accommodation while preventing homelessness.

The role requires strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act, and experience in housing solutions environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Housing Solutions, Homelessness or Housing Advice role.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act.
• Experience of assessing homelessness applications and housing needs.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with vulnerable residents and partner agencies.
• Good written and IT skills with accurate case recording.

Responsibilities

• Assess homelessness applications and determine eligibility and housing needs.
• Provide clear, accurate and timely housing advice to residents.
• Develop and implement personalised housing plans.
• Prevent and relieve homelessness where it has occurred.
• Identify suitable housing options and referrals.
• Liaise with landlords, housing providers and agencies to secure accommodation.
• Make decisions in line with relevant legislation, Council policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records.
• Work with partner services to support vulnerable residents and achieve positive outcomes.
• Manage a caseload effectively and ensure statutory duties and deadlines are met.
