Job summary

Connect2Halton is recruiting a Housing Solutions Officer to support residents who are homeless or at risk, providing professional housing advice and implementing personalised housing plans. You will assess applications, determine needs and work with partners to secure suitable accommodation while preventing homelessness.

The role requires strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act, and experience in housing solutions environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Housing Solutions, Homelessness or Housing Advice role.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act.
• Experience of assessing homelessness applications and housing needs.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with vulnerable residents and partner agencies.
• Good written and IT skills with accurate case recording.

As a Housing Solutions Officer, you will play a key role in supporting residents who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing professional housing advice and working to prevent and relieve homelessness.

You will assess individual circumstances, identify appropriate housing solutions and work closely with residents and partner organisations to secure suitable accommodation wherever possible.

The role will involve:

• Assessing homelessness applications and determining eligibility and housing needs
• Providing clear, accurate and timely housing advice to residents
• Developing and implementing personalised housing plans
• Working proactively to prevent homelessness and relieve homelessness where it has occurred
• Identifying suitable housing options and making appropriate referrals
• Liaising with landlords, housing providers and other agencies to secure accommodation
• Making decisions in line with relevant legislation, Council policies and procedures
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records
• Working with partner services to support vulnerable residents and achieve positive outcomes
• Managing a caseload effectively and ensuring statutory duties and deadlines are met

About you

We are looking for an experienced housing professional who has a strong understanding of homelessness legislation and can confidently manage complex cases.

Knowledge and practical experience of the Homelessness Reduction Act is essential, along with experience of working within a homelessness or housing solutions environment.

You will need:
