Job summary

A Housing Options Officer role with Adecco Public Sector is based in Haywards Heath, working full-time on a temporary 3-month contract with potential extension. You will handle homeless approaches, assess cases from initial contact to main duty decisions, and complete s184 decisions.

Applicants should have experience with interviewing clients, homelessness prevention, and Part VII housing work, with strong IT and administrative skills. A driver is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Interview clients and resolve housing problems.
• Process homeless applications under Housing Act Part VII.
• Advise and prevent homelessness by offering correct advice to clients approaching the Council as homeless.
• Assess private sector options under Housing Act Part VII.
• Adhere to the Homelessness Code of Guidance and Council policies.
• Strong knowledge of Housing and Homelessness Law; resolve complex housing problems.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload from initial approach to main duty decisions.
• Hit ground running with prior local authority experience within last two years.
• Complete s184 decisions as required.
• Liaise with partners and service users, presenting cases clearly.
