Job summary

East Cambridgeshire District Council is seeking a Housing Options Officer to join our team, helping prevent homelessness and assist people in accessing suitable housing. The role is full-time and permanent, office-based, with a DBS check required.

You will collaborate with statutory and voluntary agencies to identify practical solutions, provide guidance to those facing housing difficulties, liaise with landlords, and help customers understand housing options to make informed choices.

Qualifications

• CIH Level 4 qualification or willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.

• Work closely with statutory and voluntary agencies to identify practical and innovative solutions that support people to access and maintain suitable, sustainable housing.
• Provide support, advice and guidance to individuals facing housing difficulties, including mediating with landlords and families, liaising with private and public sector landlords and their representatives, and helping to establish appropriate services for people with additional or specialist needs.
• Ensure customers understand the full range of housing options available to them and are supported to make informed choices.
• Ensure the council fulfils its statutory responsibilities in relation to homelessness and access to housing, while delivering a supportive and customer-focused service.

The council is committed to preventing homelessness and supporting those who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. As our team continues to grow, we are looking for a Housing Options Officer to join us.

In this rewarding role, you will work closely with statutory and voluntary agencies to identify practical and innovative solutions that support people to access and maintain suitable, sustainable housing.

You will provide support, advice and guidance to individuals facing housing difficulties, including mediating with landlords and families, liaising with private and public sector landlords and their representatives, and helping to establish appropriate services for people with additional or specialist needs. You will also ensure customers understand the full range of housing options available to them and are supported to make informed choices.

A key part of the role will be ensuring the council fulfils its statutory responsibilities in relation to homelessness and access to housing, while delivering a supportive and customer‑focused service.

The ideal candidate will hold a CIH Level 4 qualification or be willing to work towards achieving this qualification.

This role is office based and any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
