Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Housing Officer for the Rents Escalation Team in the South East Locality Office. You will manage rent arrears, advise tenants, and support regular payments while handling Universal Credit housing cost issues.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of Housing legislation.
• Strong communication skills with experience engaging tenants.

Responsibilities

• Handle rent arrears cases lodged in court and provide advice to tenants to repay arrears and maintain payments.
• Manage Universal Credit housing costs, missing payments and new claims; escalate complex UC queries to DWP management.
• Process and decide Tenant Hardship Fund applications and ensure timely payment of awards to rent accounts.
• Support the Rent Escalations Team in delivering effective tenancy management and customer service.
