Job summary

Oscar Underhill Recruitment Solutions Ltd is assisting a well-established UK housing provider to recruit a Housing Officer for Harrow. The interim role covers Harrow, Brent, Haringey and Enfield with a 37.5-hour week and a Monday–Friday pattern.

You will manage a patch of supported living properties, deliver tenancy management, monitor arrears, handle ASB, coordinate repairs, support tenants, safeguard vulnerable customers, and work with local partners to improve neighbourhood outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in tenancy management and arrears recovery.
  • Experience handling ASB and estate management.
  • Strong customer service and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to use performance data to identify risks.
  • Safeguarding vulnerable customers with multi‑agency partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a patch of supported living properties and ensure safety and compliance.

  • Coordinate repairs inspections and work with maintenance teams.
  • Support tenants to sustain tenancies and promote independence.
  • Identify vulnerable customers and escalate safeguarding referrals.
  • Maximise rental income by managing arrears and service charges.
  • Collaborate with authorities, police, and contractors for community outcomes.
  • Support voids management and readiness for new tenants.
  • Encourage customer involvement and feedback for service improvement.
  • Use KPIs and data to identify risks and improve delivery.

Pay Rate: £21.50 per hour PAYE

Contract: Temporary

Hours: 37.5 hours

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday 09:00am - 5:00pm

My client, a well-established UK housing provider with a strong supported housing portfolio, is seeking a dedicated Housing Officer to join the team on an interim basis until December 2026, with the potential for an extension.

  • Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week
  • Location: Harrow (HA1) covering Harrow, Brent, Haringey and Enfield.
  • Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
  • Pay Rate: £21.50 PAYE
  • Compliance: Standard DBS required
  • Travel: Full UK driving license & access to a vehicle required
  • Mileage: Paid at 55p per mile (with business insurance)
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a patch of supported living properties, ensuring they are safe, well-maintained, and compliant.
  • Deliver high-quality housing management services, including tenancy management, arrears monitoring, allocations, lettings, and estate inspections.
  • Handle anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases in line with policies, ensuring timely investigation, escalation, and resolution.
  • Complete repairs inspections, report maintenance issues, and work closely with maintenance teams to ensure timely completion.
  • Support customers to sustain their tenancies, promoting independence and ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • Identify vulnerable customers and make appropriate safeguarding referrals, working closely with multi‑agency partners.
  • Maximise rental income by proactively managing rent arrears, service charges, former tenant arrears, and financial inclusion support referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners—local authorities, police, fire service, contractors to ensure positive community outcomes.
  • Support voids management by ensuring swift property turnaround and readiness for new tenants.
  • Promote customer involvement, gather customer feedback, and support continuous improvement of local services.
  • Use data, KPIs, and performance information to identify risks, resolve issues, and improve service delivery.
Skills & Outcomes of This Role
  • Demonstrated experience in tenancy management, arrears recovery, ASB handling, and estate management.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage, listen, problem-solve and negotiate.
  • Confidence in managing safeguarding concerns, supporting vulnerable clients, and working with multi‑agency partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to be a self-starter, managing a varied caseload across dispersed locations.
  • Experience working with repairs teams, maintenance operatives and external contractors.
  • Enhanced knowledge of compliance, tenancy law, housing legislation, and good neighbourhood management.
  • Ability to analyse patch performance data and contribute to service improvement and community wellbeing.
