Job summary

The Kent Autistic Trust is seeking a Housing Manager to lead the day-to-day management of our housing portfolio. You will ensure homes are safe, compliant, well maintained and meet the needs of autistic adults we support.

You will lead tenancy management, property compliance, repairs and maintenance, Housing Benefit and exempt accommodation, while supporting a team and working with residents and local authorities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in housing management within a charity, housing association, local authority or similar.
• CIH Level 4 qualification or willingness to achieve by 2030.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Sound understanding of housing legislation, compliance and tenancy management.
• Ability to advise on complex tenancy and housing matters including possession and statutory notices.
• Understanding of housing compliance and legislation (Awaabs Law, Renters Rights, etc.).
• Experience with property compliance, repairs and contractor management.
• Good understanding of Housing Benefit and exempt accommodation.
• Experience supervising or supporting staff.
• Organised, proactive and solution-focused; builds stakeholder relationships.
• Shares values of respect, inclusion and person-centred support.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of the housing portfolio, ensuring safety, compliance and quality.
• Oversee tenancy management, property compliance, repairs, maintenance, Housing Benefit and exempt accommodation.
• Provide leadership and support to the housing team; work with residents, landlords and authorities.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and drive service improvement in housing provision.
• Shape the future direction of housing and property function in partnership with the CEO and Trustees.

About the Role

As Housing Manager, you will lead the day-to-day management of our housing portfolio, ensuring homes are safe, compliant, well maintained and meet the needs of the autistic adults we support.

You will oversee tenancy management, property compliance, repairs and maintenance, Housing Benefit and exempt accommodation, while providing leadership and support to the housing team. Working closely with residents, landlords, local authorities and other stakeholders, you will ensure high-quality housing services, maintain regulatory compliance, and support the ongoing development and improvement of our housing provision.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

• Has significant experience working within housing management within a charity, housing association, local authority or similar organisation.
