Job summary

Sellick Partnership is recruiting a Paralegal to join a specialist Housing Management and Property Litigation team in Birmingham. You will develop your caseload and work closely with Solicitors, handling a varied range of housing and property matters for a broad client base including Registered Providers and private landlords.

Your workload will include possession actions, injunctions, disrepair claims, leasehold issues, pleadings and witness statements, trial bundles and court processes, with

Qualifications

• 2:2 degree or above.
• Strong legal research and drafting skills.
• LPC or studying part-time preferred.
• Experience preparing pleadings and witness statements.
• Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail.
• Confident dealing with clients and communicating clearly in plain English.
• Able to manage a high-volume workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive, resilient and able to work with limited supervision.
• Experience with Registered Providers, private landlords or the County Court is beneficial (not essential).

Responsibilities

• Possession proceedings relating to rent arrears, breach of tenancy, anti-social behaviour and unauthorised occupiers.
• Injunction proceedings and disrepair claims.
• Claims involving leaseholders, including forfeiture.
• Drafting claim forms, pleadings and witness statements.
• Preparing trial bundles and managing court paperwork.
• Liaising with Courts, Barristers, clients and other fee earners.
• Attending Court to support Barristers and Solicitors.
• Conducting routine County Court advocacy.
• Managing a busy caseload with multiple deadlines.
• Building and developing your own caseload with support from experienced Solicitors.
