Job summary

The Cumbria County Council is seeking a proactive Housing Support Officer to join the Home Improvement Agency in Barrow. You will help deliver Disabled Facilities Grants and support residents to live independently at home, working as part of a dedicated team.

In this permanent, part-time role (18.5 hours per week), you will triage enquiries, advise customers, and collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Contractors and partners to process grant applications from referral to completion.

Qualifications

• Excellent communicator with ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Organise workload and meet deadlines in a supportive team.
• Competent with IT and data reporting for statutory funding.
• Experience working in housing services or with Disabled Facilities Grants (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Deliver Disabled Facilities Grants across the Westmorland and Furness area.
• Support Home Improvement Agency team from referral to completion of works.
• Triages enquiries, provides advice, and processes grant applications.
• Work with Occupational Therapists, contractors and partners to deliver high-quality service.
